Raphael Saadiq: 100 Yard Dash (video)

You've got to give it up to Raphael Saadiq -- the man doesn't do anything in half-measures. So when it came time to dream up a video for the extremely Motown-esque tune "100 Yard Dash," from Saadiq's most recent album, The Way I See It, the former Tony! Toni! Tone! man (he was the one in the middle) came up with an appropriately period-perfect look, in which he plays his circa-1965 David Ruffin role to the hilt, with the requisite amount of swivel-hipped choreography going on behind him. And of course it's all in black and white, for just the right LBJ-era flavor. Of course, there's more of a postmodern touch to the whole thing than you would have ever seen in the days of the Tempts et al, but hell, you've got to give the folks some kind of clue that this is 2009...

Loving the blog!
I would like to ask you if you would be kind enough to update your embedded version of Raphael Saadiq's "100 Yard Dash" video with a higher quality version. The version currently existing on your site is overly compressed and inaccurately "squeezed" into a smaller non-widescreen window. We (those of us who worked hard with Raphael in the creation of this video) feel this better quality version much more accurately depicts our vision of a project we are all very excited about.

Higher quality video available here:

or you can embedd it by pasting the following code:

Swapped it out with the vimeo player. Great video Perception!
