It's been way too long since we last heard from one-time Flipmode Squad member Rah Digga. Her 2000 debut, Dirty Harriet, is one of the better albums of the past decade, in my opinion at least, and it's a damn shame she's been stuck in limbo since then. That all changed last year, though, when she announced her sophomore project, Classic, that's produced entirely by previous collaborator Nottz. And we get our first taste of their project on grown-woman anthem "This Ain't No Lil Kid Rap." While not an entirely moving track, it proves Rah can clearly still spit with the best of them. And Nottz's beat certainly complements her somewhat relaxed flow on here.
Beyond that, though, could Rah's return mean we could be seeing a resurgance of female rappers this year? Obviously Nicki Minaj is hogging the spotlight right now, but perhaps she will be getting some competition soon. Lil Kim recently signed to Roc Nation and Eve, Trina and Diamond all spit on the remix of Luda's "My Chick Bad." Only time will tell if this will equate to more women in the hip-hop mainstream.
Rah Digga's Classic is due out later this year. You can stream "This Ain't No Lil Kid Rap" below.
