We're usually not down with the whole "freestyle" thing where rappers spit over industry beats. But those tracks aren't typically used as a means of introducing a new artist. They also don't sound this good or feature a clearly fired-up Raekwon. He's using his own take on Nas' unbelievable "Nasty" as a way to introduce Toronto's JD Era, who recently signed to Rae's Ice H20 label. The Canadian rapper holds his own here even while playing second fiddle to the Chef, who opens "Dirty Water" with a blistering verse. After hearing this, I can safely say we're looking forward to Era's forthcoming mixtape, No Handouts, which is set to drop later this month.
