Quietus Mix

In his review of Toro y Moi’s sophomore album, Underneath the Pine, fellow Prefix editor Andrew Winistorfer noted that “most of the wordless stuff comes off like Stereolab covers that were degraded by years of water damage.” He wasn’t the only one shedding light on that influence known, though, as Toro y Moi’s Chaz Bundick has done so himself on this mix for the Quietus. The 10-track playlist includes the seminal post-rock band’s “Brakhage,” off 1997’s Dots and Loops, along with some choice material from Madlib, Electric Wire Hustle (!), and Suff Daddy. It’s all really just another example of how some of your favorite artists don’t only make great music, they listen to great music, too.
