Queen Latifah

"Fast Car" ft. Missy Elliott (Video)

The video for Queen Latifah's "Fast Car" reminded me of Tracy Chapman's song of the same name, which reminded me of the scene from last season's Office where Micahel asks Darrell to make a CD of Bruce Springsteen songs, and includes "Fast Car" (and four songs by Huey Lewis). Hilarious. It's better than this, obviously, because this looks like a car commercial masked as a video for how Queen Latifah can't drive anywhere without running into people who not only recognize her, but want to race her on a regulation track. Remember when Common had mad cred? Me neither. Same goes for Missy.

Queen Latifah's Persona is out now. [NahRight]

i don't know what kind of commentary you're making here, so many weird references. i hope it's not a rip on missy.
but common did have cred back when he was common sense--he came up through soundbombing vol 2 and killed it with de la. whatever.

I was really hoping that this would be a Tracy Chapman cover.

I like Missy, but this track is bad news bears.

Common had 3 records before lacing soundboming 2... I'm not sure I'd credit the one track he did with sadat x as the reason for his fame.

And I actually like Common, it's just that he's really been hell-bent on destroying his individuality lately.

fame and cred are not the same. soundbombing is cred. mtv/gap comercials is fame. not the same.

right... its confusing cause you said he 'came up through' sondboming 2. But he already had a lot of 'cred' before he even came onto that compilation.
