"Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler," or "let the good times roll," is not used here in a happy-go-lucky way so much as in the sense of, "the ship is sinking so we might as well drink sherry." Fittingly, Clyde Petersen (who has done videos for Laura Veirs and Deerhoof) animates the song with a Titanic theme. This is from Quasi's eighth album,American Gong, which came out Feb. 23. Consisting of Sam Coomes, Sleater-Kinney's Janet Weiss and Joanna Bolme, Quasi have been playing since the early '90s, long enough for Stereogum to call their sound nostalgic. Nonetheless, they haven't sunk yet.
