Q-Tip has a (sort of) new album, Kamaal the Abstract, in stores. The record was actually recorded in 2001 but never gained an official release after the record label claimed it was too uncommercial. Thankfully, Jive Records’ Battery imprint has set the record straight and given the album a proper release.
The hip-hop legend appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night (Sept. 16), where he performed “Barely in Love” from the record. The Roots served as Q-Tip’s backing band for this performance, which is full of slick soul/funk moves and various attempts to get the audience members on their feet.
