Our Hulu overlords are being slow in getting last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon online, so while we wait, here’s a web exclusive performance of “Public Image” by Public Image Ltd. The band is in New York to play a few shows, which will bring their triumphant North American tour to a close.
John Lydon sounds in great voice here, and he may be using a lyric sheet on the lectern in front of him, but when PiL sound this good we can forgive him just about anything. Despite being 32 years old, “Public Image” still sounds like one of the freshest songs in the PiL canon, which is testament to Lydon’s vision for the band.
