Princeton: "Sadie and Andy" (MP3)

Thanks to Vampire Weekend, the floodgates have been opened for bands who don't want to hide their preppy roots. Enter the appropriately-named Princeton, an L.A. band taylor made for the Gossip Girl soundtrack. Like Vampire Weekend, Princeton would be easy to hate if they weren't any good, but "Sadie and Andy," off the band's debut album Cocoon of Love is a rather smart, mysterious pop track, using horns and male and female vocal harmonies in a manner that is so sweet that it seems impossible to hate (then again, Vampire Weekend's equally sweet brand of pop drew a ton of bile, so what do I know).

Cocoon of Love came out Tuesday. Princeton will be touring nonstop until November with Art Brut and Ra Ra Riot, depending on the location.
