This might not last long, as Prince is notoriously YouTube shy, but his new track “Hot Summer” has leaked after being played on a Minnesotan radio station. Prince unveiled the track, which was apparently inspired by the heatwave that hit Minnesota in May, to celebrate his 52nd birthday.
"Hot Summer" may not rank among summery Prince classics like “Play in the Sunshine” or “Raspberry Beret,” but it retains some of the ebullient feel of those tracks. In fact, compared to much of Prince’s recent output, this is an edge back toward a sound that many Prince fans have been hankering for, and seems to indicate that further new material may be worthy of investigation.
