Like we’ve seen so many times in hip-hop’s illustrious history (Gang Starr, Showbiz & A.G., Reflection Eternal) an MC and a producer are coming together for a full-length project. In this case, it’s dexterous rhymer Kyle Rapps and buzzing beatsmith Diwon, who will release their Syndication mixtape later this month. As a third and final taster, the pair deliver “Portlandia,” a heavily sedated, washed-out jam which flips the sketch comedy of the same name’s original theme song. Interestingly enough, the tape as a whole is crafted on samples of TV theme tunes.

Syndication drops Oct. 17, the same day that Kyle and Diwon are set to perform at a Scion-sponsored CMJ showcase at The Paperbox, Brooklyn, alongside Pro Era’s Capital STEEZ, Aaron Cohen and Inner City Kids, Rilgood, brandUn DeShay, Maffew Ragazino and more.
