The notoriously tortoise-like Portishead may be set to follow up Third quicker than we all imagined. Geoff Barrow has been busy with his other band, the largely improvised BEAK>, but has returned to Portishead for a new track, titled “Chase the Tear." All proceeds from the song will go to Amnesty International.
The track builds on many of the ideas flexed on Third—a kraut-y backing, lots of old analog synths bubbling to the surface, with Beth Gibbons’ cracked vocals laid over the top. The song can be downloaded on this page, which also offers a chance to contribute to Amnesty by monthly direct debit.
