I have no idea what's happening in this to be continued video from Philadelphia psych-pop brother duo PO PO, aside from some trickery regarding expectations based on sound cues. The "Teen Dreamz" section of the video, with its straight-to-Netflix horror movie vibe, dendrophilia, and ominous post-Salem production, is the kind of thing that makes me want to start a rumor about PO PO being iamamiwhoami. But there's a 180 degree turn when we hit "Let's Get Away," both in terms of musical tone, where PO PO mash up cheesy '80s synth chords with digeridoo and grinding metal undertones, and narrative content, which basically just engenders a "wait what" reaction. Joking aside, the duo handle both delicate moods with great care, making both somehow ring true, even with its sudden twist. The band's debut record for Diplo's Mad Decent label, Dope Boy Magick, drops on Feb. 28. Check out the video for "Teen Dreamz / Let's Get Away" below. [Stereogum]
