Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix has quadrupled the size of Phoenix’s fanbase, with the band finally edging toward the huge audience their saccharine pop sounds deserve. Criminal Records is often hailed as one of the best record stores in Atlanta, and the band performed a set there earlier this week.
In this clip they perform a stripped down acoustic version of “Lisztomania,” a song that is likely to be remembered for a makeshift YouTube clip constructed from ‘80s brat-pack movies (see below). But it sounds just fine in this format too, with singer Thomas Mars giving a fine demonstration of his soaring vocals over the hushed backing.
