Phoenix: "Fences" (Friendly Fires Remix) (MP3)

Friendly Fires normally shines best as the remixee when the issue is one artist putting their hand in another artist's work, but here the UK trio turns out a pretty good rework of Phoenix's "Fences." With house-y piano hits, snares, and rubber-y bass combining to make a sort of mutant pop, this remix sounds like Phoenix's attempt at new jack swing. Perhaps a Ready for the World cover will be in the cards for the French quartet sometime soon? [The Fader]
