Phish must have a pretty sweet deal with the producers of Jimmy Fallon’s show—the band appeared on Fallon less than a month ago as part of the celebrations to mark the release of the Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main St., and last night (June 9) they returned to perform “Kill Devil Falls” from the 2009 album Joy.
It must be strange for a band with such a passionate and devoted set of fans to appear without them, although Fallon’s “band bench” do a decent job of showing some enthusiasm for this straight-down-the-line formulaic rock number. Anyone with a strong distaste for men playing lengthy guitar solos while making goldfish shapes with their mouth should probably switch off around the 3:58 mark.
