Peter Wolf Crier: "Last Christmas" (Wham Cover) (Live On A.V. Undercover) (Video)
The A.V. Club's Holiday Undercover series continues today with this cover of Wham's ever-present "Last Christmas" by Peter Wolf Crier. This one starts slow, but surprisingly, it turns into a torch song, like it's the centerpiece to a burning folk-rock album. It's hard to top the original in cheesiness, so this goes the opposite route: It replaces the ironic cheese with straight-faced seriousness. Which is obviously the better choice. Watch below:
