Peter Bjorn and John: "Dig A Little Deeper" (Mayer Hawthorne Remix)

In between campaigning to play the halftime show at the Detroit Lions-Green Bay Packers Thanksgiving game, Mayer Hawthorne found some time to hit studio. While there, the Motor City crooner put together a remix that basically answers the following question: What would Sweden's Peter Bjorn and John sound like if they made a blue-eyed soul tune?

Because Hawthorne's take on "Dig a Little Deeper," off the trio's Gimme Some, sounds like it should have appeared on his latest release, How Do You Do. That's not a backhanded compliment, either, but a testament to how easy it is for Hawthorne to bang out throwback soul romps. You can stream the remix at Spin.
