Has anyone else noticed how hard Pete Rock and Smif N Wessun have been pushing their collaborative album, Monumental? I mean, I guess it just stands out because the record hasn't received an abundance of critical acclaim. We can safely say we like (and sometimes love) what we have heard, especially the latest single, "Roses." It's a mellow burner that's versatile thanks to the head-nodding, riding beat from Pete Rock. You could easily find yourself bumping this one while cruising the streets, though it also makes great headphones fodder. Because it's when you listen intently -- or watch the above video -- that you grasp the message within their verses. If we had to nitpick, we wish that Freeway had a verse to go along with his gruff hook.
