Pete Rock and Smif N Wessun's collaborative album, Monumental, is set to drop tomorrow. As such, I would assume this is the last preview we will be hearing until they decide to release some visuals. They have chosen wisely here with "(I'm a) Stand Up Guy," a track featuring one of Rock's more chilling beats. Seriously, the samples, particularly the creeping horn stabs, sound lifted from a horror movie score or at least an old-school caper film. It's difficult to think of a better musical setting for Smif N Wessun and their guest, Black Rob, all of whom spit that raw New York-shit like you would hope.
Stream the track below. Monumental, which is sounding strong so far, is out June 28.
