"Helpless" is a shattering, devastatingly beautiful balled. Perfume Genius mastermind Mike Hadreas writes shattering, devastatingly beautiful songs. So it makes a lot of sense that he'd close out a concert with a solemn, piano-only cover of Neil Young's 1970 classic. Hadreas' androgynous vocals match perfectly with Young's trademark warble, now if only Learning -- Perfume Genius's debut, released in June via Matador -- could have been this poignant more consistently. I love everything Perfume Genius has done so far. Very moving, very fragile. I saw him perform at 92YTribeca a few months back, and his set pretty much made my heart want to break.
I'm actually impressed by this guy. Would like to hear him on a Steinway with good backing vocals.....he's got the piercing touch like Neil does on the original....

I like it. You definately have that Neil Young type voice. I recently recorded Neil Young and Crazy Horse cover version of Cortez the Killer.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JktacuJC8Os
