Sisterly duo Pearl Harbor are set to make a big splash at this year's SXSW, as they've struck upon a sound (hazy, reflective pop) at basically the perfect time. That and their backstory is most definitely blog-worthy: Their principle members are sisters Piper (who is 22) and Skyler (who is only 14). The band is preparing a new 7-inch single, the a-side, "Can't Take You Anywhere," of which is already lighting up the group's MySpace. This would work well pretty much anywhere in the middle of The Breakfast Club, which is probably what Pearl Harbor were sort of going for here. Though neither of the sisters was alive when that movie came out. [Pitchfork]
What does the 14-year-old do in the band? Do they both sing?
Also, are they the only two in the band, or are there others?
They both sing, she plays guitar. They're the only principle members, as far as I understand it. There might be more in a live setting.
live they're a 5 piece, and it sounds very cool
