Pavement: "Box Elder (Blackbird Blackbird Remix)"
San Francisco artist/producer Blackbird Blackbird has taken a Pavement classic and reinvented it as a fine piece of electronic dreampop. Fans of the original Pavement track from the Slay Tracks EP will find that almost all of the instrumentation has been discarded-- Blackbird brings new, spacier guitars to the song and focuses on Malkmus' lyric of "made me make a choice" as the remix's centerpiece. It's nearly unrecognizable as a Pavement track, but in this case that's not close to being a bad thing.

Blackbird Blackbird's latest release is the Summer Heart LP, issued in December and available now via Bandcamp.
Pavement have just concluded their 2010 world tour and their new greatest hits collection, Quarantine the Past, can and should be purchased now via Matador Records.
