“7 + 3 Is The Striker's Name" feat. Kevin Shields (Video)

Here’s a strange collaboration: Paul Weller is known for his earthy, straightforward rock tunes, with a tinge of R&B and classic soul thrown in for good measure. Kevin Shields is known for being anything but earthy, and has spent most of his career trying to transport listeners out of the planet with a mixture of extreme noise and brittle beauty.

 

Despite their differences, the pair have teamed up for a song named “7 + 3 Is The Striker's Name,” which is partially streaming at Weller’s website, is available for a small fee to download, and can be heard in full in the above video. It’s mostly a Weller-oriented track, but there are odd bursts of creepy guitar FX-driven sounds that can only have come from one man.
