Is it really possible that Paul McCartney has never performed on the Late Show with David Letterman? Apparently so. But the former Beatle made amends last night (July 15) by playing on the marquee of the Ed Sullivan theater, where he performed a faithful version of “Get Back” and a run-through of “Sing the Changes” from his latest Fireman project.
A huge crowd gathered on the streets of New York for the brief performance, although it’s likely that many of them had no idea what the Fireman song was all about. Kudos to McCartney for confounding expectations and not performing a perfunctory run through of another Beatles classic.
