Patrick Wolf has a new album, Bachelor, coming out in June via his own Bloody Chamber Music imprint following a split with Universal over the album's dark tones and the lack of what they perceived as a conventional single. Well, "Vulture," the first single from Bachelor has just hit, and in a sense it's not conventional--it doesn't sound much like the fey, orchestral new wave that Wolf did on The Magic Position--it's moody, and way more forceful and preening than any of Wolf's past work.
Bachelor is out on June 1, and you can pay what you want for it by going here. [Stereogum]
I'd actually agree with you on the preening but what exactly do you mean by forceful? Production wise, vocal delivery, just plain confidence? There are some pretty powerful moments on those past releases.
