The closing track on Patrick Wolf’s Lupercalia is “The Falcons,” which has just been given the graphics-heavy video below. The song is the kind of orchestral pop Wolf has been practicing for much of his career, strung up somewhere between the Divine Comedy, Scott Walker and the Magnetic Fields. Wolf’s delivery sounds supremely confident here, as it does most of the time, with the bittersweet nature of the track working up a neat juxtaposition to his strident vocals. It’s too bad the pop-star status Wolf so obviously craves has fallen just out of his reach so far, as this sounds like it would make a decent hit in his native U.K.
