Panda Bear is hopping back and forth between his duties with Animal Collective and his solo career at present. He just played a solo show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn and is in the middle of a small set of AnCo dates that will include an appearance at the Pitchfork Festival this Friday (July 15). Last night he appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s show to play this version of “You Can Count On Me” from Tomboy, with the aid of his pal Sonic Boom from Spacemen 3 and a light show from his longstanding visual collaborator Danny Perez. It’s slightly different to the album version, sounding even more mournful if that’s possible, and with Boom tweaking an array of equipment that will appeal greatly to gear fetishists.
