Owen Pallett is no stranger to covering other artists during his live performances. On his current tour promoting latest album Heartlands, he has covered songs ranging from Arcade Fire’s “No Cars Go” to Elton John’s “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” from The Lion King. His most recent random act of admiration comes in the form of Caribou’s latest single, “Odessa,” taken from Swim. Here, Pallett taps out a beat onto his keyboard, loops it, and begins plucking the familiar chords to “Odessa” on his trusty fiddle. In spite of the somewhat crappy quality, it actually makes for a wonderful cover of the original. I propose he cover T.I.’s “What You Know” next, if, for nothing else, to see what he could do with that amazing synth line on his violin.
