Open Mike Eagle, Ras G: "Warhorn"

While Ras G and Open Mike Eagle's new collaboration, "Warhorn," is dope enough to warrant its own words, it's the story behind the track that is of the utmost imporant here. As Mike told us via e-mail, he recorded the song to shed light on his and Ras's upcoming project that will take them overseas. The two forward-thinking Los Angeles hip-hop acts are travelling to Uganda "to teach a youth program about hip-hop and record a project with Ugandan rap artists."

They're doing it thanks to some help from L.A. hip-hop non-profit organization J.U.I.C.E. and the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. The latter group gave Ras and Mike a matching grant of $7,000, which means they also need to raise that much money to make this happen.

As Mike said himself: "We need any help that you could provide. 1 dollar, 5 dollars, 1,000 dollars. Each and every bit of assistance we get will help this once in a lifetime opportunity come to pass."
