"I Will Haunt You" (Streaming)

Despite releasing some of the best albums of the 2000s (Each One, Teach One; Secret Wars) Oneida remains one of the most underrated bands in Brooklyn. They are currently trying to rectify that situation by issuing a three-part album trilogy, beginning with last year’s Preteen Weaponry.

Their new album, Rated O, is set to be Oneida’s most ambitious statement yet. It’s a triple album, spread across three CDs or three LPs (depending on your format choice) and is set to be released in July. Download site eMusic is currently streaming some frustratingly brief clips of three Rated O tracks, which give a little taster of how the album will sound.

“What’s Up, Jackal?” will clock in at over 12 minutes in length and contains plenty of fizzy electronics. “I Will Haunt You” bears the classic Oneida punk-psychedelia sound, reminiscent of “Caesar’s Column” from Secret Wars. And “Saturday” is cut off just as it hits its stride, offering few clues to its ultimate destination. Onedia has a few dates lined up to support the record, details below.

07.10 Hoboken, NJ: Maxwells
07.11 San Francisco, CA: Bottom of the Hill
07.12 Los Angeles, CA: Echo Lounge
07.24 Brooklyn, NY: TBA
07.25 Medford, MA: Outside the Lines Studio w/Sunburned Hand of the Man and Big Bear
07.26 New Haven, CT: BAR w/ Sunburned Hand of the Man

Oneida live is a different beast than on recording, so even if you are not enamored about their cds, you should at least check 'em out once.
