“One Drop” (Radio Rip)

We’ve known for a while now that John Lydon was planning to follow-up last year’s Public Image Ltd. reunion shows with a new album by the band. He hinted that it would be called This is PiL in an interview in November, and while that’s still not confirmed, a track from it has been played on the radio in the U.K.—“One Drop.” This combines Lydon’s longstanding love of dub and reggae with his raw punk whine, which still sounds remarkably fresh after all these years. This might not be vintage PiL, but it’s an improvement on some of the band’s later records, and Lydon is still circling the same lyrical concerns he’s spent most of his career dwelling on. “We come from chaos!” he screeches, at the beginning of “One Drop.” Check it out below.
