Diplo is probably more famous for his Twitter feed at this point than for his musical contributions for the likes of M.I.A. and Major Lazer, but anyone taking the time to look at the man’s career knows that he has a penchant for aural globetrotting. His Mad Decent label jumps from dubstep to Afro-cuban to techno, sometimes within the same release. Here, Diplo has joined forces with 23-year-old French producer Douster for “On,” an explosive banger that mangles a small sample from the Beatles’ “Day in the Life” (good luck clearing that sample, Diplo) and pairs it with viciously on-point drums and pinball synths for a track both woozy and vibrant.
