Anyone who has seen Syrian musician Omar Souleyman live will be well aware of how infectious his performance can be. Sublime Frequencies has done an excellent job of cataloging his recordings, and the label’s latest venture is a live album from Souleyman titled Haflat Gharbia (The Western Concerts). Altered Zones is streaming a track from that record titled “Haram (Forbidden – I Signal, You Deny),” which offers a perfect demonstration of the frantic energy his music exudes. The tracks from Haflat Gharbia were all captured on tour between 2009 and 2011—check out the Sublime Frequencies website for more details.
