A little over a week ago, we got our very first taste of new material from Okkervil River, in the form of frontman Will Sheff playing a song called "Lay of the Last Survivor." Recently, Sheff, along with Beth Wawerna of Bird of Youth, played live a song called "Walked Out on a Line." More than likely, "Walked Out" is destined to be one of those slowly growing, intensely dramatic Okkervil River tunes that make excellent album centerpieces. You can almost picture the swirling organ drones and fuzzed-out guitar leads that will almost surely intertwine during that climax. Solo, the song is still nothing to sneeze at.
