Okkervil River

Lost Coastlines (Video)

Average Rating: 9.00

Videos for Okkervil River’s “Lost Coastlines” have been bouncing around the net for almost two months (like this one with Will Sheff and Carl Newman, or this one of the band in Norway), but now there’s an “official” video that premiered on MTV2’s Subterranean last night.

The video is technically impressive, as the band member’s faces are digitally placed in cardboard TV boxes that they wear on their heads. In a (moderately) surprising move, Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater, who quit Okkervil earlier this year, is in the video singing his portion of the song.

The song is from The Stand Ins, out now via Jagjaguwar. [MTV]

Wow how far these guys have come....Sheff hasn't aged a day.
great video. Meiburg's vocals kill.

Yeah, I was surprised Meiburg would be in the video. I think this may actually be my favorite Okkervil song. Stand Ins isn't my favorite album, but I really, really like this song.

I think Down The River of Golden Dreams will always be my favorite. I like Stand Ins but it's not one of their top 3.

cool track and video. no way those faces are digitally placed on the cardboard boxes like the post says though. that would be almost impossible unless they had a huge budget for special effects.
