The Stand Ins is reportedly the second-half of a double album started last year on Okkervil River’s excellent The Stage Names, and the themes of first single “Lost Coastlines” make that abundantly clear-- a band gets lost literally and metaphorically on tour. Okkervil frontman Will Sheff duets with Shearwater man (and recently departed Okkervil side player) Jonathan Meiburg on the track—which is propelled by a rising bassline and bleary-eyed soul.

The Stand Ins is due out on September 9 via JagJaguwar, and “Lost Coastlines” is available as a digital download now.
