OK Go: “This Too Shall Pass” (Live on Kimmel) (Video)

Ok Go took to the big stage on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night (April 1), which offered fans a chance to see whether “This Too Shall Pass” could stand up without its Rube Goldberg-inspired video. The band was also invited to perform another song from its Of The Colour of the Sky album, “I Want You So Bad I Can’t Breathe” (below).

Sadly, in the cold light of a TV talk show stage, the group is exposed as being a fairly ordinary rock band in the mold of Counting Crows, and even resorts to that tired old trick of hiring some gospel-like backing singers in an attempt to prove how authentic they are. Singer Damian Kulash does jump into the crowd at one point, but that’s about as exciting as OK Go gets.

I'd definitely watch the Goldbergian video again.

Didn't think it was ordinary at all. They're hot sh*t right now, and they're actually playing like it, too.
