Of Montreal: Smells Like Teen Spirit ft. Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT (Nirvana Cover) (Audio)

At their blow-out show at Roseland in New York last week, Of Montreal were joined onstage by Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT for a cover of an incredibly obscure song called “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by a group whose name escapes me. By the power of the Internet, you can listen to the track here.

The cover is kind of sloppy, but then again, Of Montreal’s live performances are more spectacle than anything else. The MGMT dude’s contribution is hard to determine (he probably added some buzz band cache), but Barnes seems pretty stoked and wasted. [Stereogum]
