Here’s your “Of Montreal do an unlikely cover” news for the week: here’s a video (that has really, really bad audio) of the band doing “Instant Karma” by John Lennon. From what I can glean from the audio, the cover was glam-y and faithful. It’s below if you’re interested. But honestly, I’m more impressed by the above video that finds the band doing “Day Man” from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. If there’s a band that can capture the charms of the master of karate, than Of Montreal are that band. [You Ain’t No Picasso and Quarter Life Party]
I made that video of Instant Karma... the bass in that hall was blowing my mic away, nothing I could do! I still posted it online just to capture the moment, and the super-enthusiastic crowd. I can truly say, "you had to be there."
I was happy to see that a band covered "Dayman," but I didn't think it sounded awesome. Maybe if I was at the show I would've been more into it.
Kevin Barnes is the furthest thing from a master of karate.
they did this at the concert i was at, but i've been behind on it's always sunny, so i didn't get the reference! how disappointing!
I prefer Charlie and Dennis' original version.
