Of Montreal: "Dour Percentage" (Live On Fallon) (Video)
“Dour Percentage” was one of the first tracks to be revealed from Of Montreal’s Paralytic Stalks, and it was the band’s song of choice on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night. This is a typically extravagant performance from Kevin Barnes’s group, who are flanked by screens with ever-revolving imagery as they work their way through the ELO-lite groove the track is based around. But there's more to it than mere pastiche, with Barnes letting his falsetto spiral up to the ceiling while a great whirl of psychedelia threatens to engulf him. This is far more ambitious than the average late night TV Talk show performances we see every day—it’s great to se a band actually make an effort with presentation for once.
