It’s hard to rectify the liquid dance music of “Odessa’ with its dead of winter video, since this isn’t music that evokes images of rams in the snow, snow-covered roads, or a bloody woman searching for something. This is music for sweat covered rooms, poorly-lit bars and for getting down. But Caribou has always seemed reluctant to fully embrace the imagery that goes along with dance music–instead trying to stay psychedelic–so this makes sense in that regard. Still though, this looks like a Mastodon video, not a video from a Canadian dance music producer.
Caribou’s Swim is due out on April 20. [Pitchfork]
