Obscura: "The Anticosmic Overload" (Video)

The eight-year-old in me wishes that the video for "The Anticosmic Overload," the dizzying lead-off track off of Obscura's forthcoming album Cosmogenesis, would feature more CGI planet explosions and whooshing comets and stuff. The death metal fanatic in me is just fine with live band shots, since every member of Obscura is inhumanly proficient at his instrument, and it's nice to confirm that they aren't robots. As an added bonus, we get plenty of close-ups of bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling's daunting cheekbones -- almost as impressive as his fretless bass gymnastics. Obscura release Cosmogenesis on February 17th via Relapse. Check the band's official website for a list of live dates for their April tour with Cannibal Corpse, the Faceless and Neuraxis.

Metal has tripped over it's overgrown, tactless, role playing feet and bruised it's ignorant skull. Bring back Sabbath, Leaf Hound and Blue Cheer.
