Oasis have never hid their fondness for Brit-rock circa 1968 (or their hatred for hip-hop circa 2008), and the video for “The Shock of the Lightning” takes that to extremes. The clip opens with an image that looks a lot like this Rolling Stones album cover—and the homage’s repeat from there. Lennon’s small glasses, psychedelic bubbles, and the space landing all figure prominently. Overall the track is just standard issue Oasis (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing)—all soaring choruses and glittery guitars.
The song is from Oasis’ upcoming album, “Dig Out Your Soul,” due out on October 7 via Warner Brothers. [Stereogum]
