A lot of artists whose work tends towards the "experimental" side get more conventional as their careers progress. Not Nite Jewel. The LA lady-duo is putting out a 7-inch with "Falling Far" on the a-side, and this track is just about as loopy and bombed-out as the material on Nite Jewel's debut LP, Good Evening. "Falling Far" might be melodically stronger than a lot of the material on that album, but the vocals are still washed-out and unrecognizable, hovering underneath an opaque, dank, green haze. These girls could probably make a living playing in opium dens across the world. [The Fader]
