In time for the leak of the single, Nicki Minaj has released a video for "Massive Attack," which finds her as the leader of a pack of women in the desert, an animal in the jungle, and the Louise to Amber Rose's Thelma. You have to search hard to find shit nuttier than this. This reminds me of all those super expensive videos from the Bad Boy label circa-1997, which I thought wasn't supposed to happen anymore. I thought Hype Williams, who directed this, was supposed to be out of a job because no one can afford to make these kind of very expensive videos any more. I guess not.
Nicki Minaj's debut album is due out later this year.
Doesn't YouTube have to pay out every time a music video is played now? It doesn't surprise me that we're seeing a return to big budget videos if that is the case. I mean, Gaga has over one billion views in total. That's got to be more lucrative than actual sales.
