Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds: We No Who U R

Last week Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds announced the release date and track list for their 15th studio album, Push the Sky Away. Cave described the record as both a "ghost-baby in the incubator" and "new, but in an old school kind of way," citing inspiration from the unlikeliest source: the Internet.

The songs on this album took form in a modest notebook with shellac covers over the course of almost a year. The notebook is a treasured analogue artefact but the internet is equally important to Nick: Googling curiosities, being entranced by exotic Wikipedia entries “whether they’re true or not”. These songs convey how on the internet profoundly significant events, momentary fads and mystically-tinged absurdities sit side-by-side and question how we might recognise and assign weight to what’s genuinely important. (Excerpt from the band's official website)

Take a listen to the first track from Push the Sky Away, "We No Who U R," a subtle, slightly disconcerting walk through the woods, with Cave repeating the ominous lines "We know who you are, and we know where you live, and we know there's no need to forgive."

Push the Sky Away comes out Feb. 18 in the UK and Feb. 19 in the US. "We No Who U R" is available as a download when you pre-order the album.
