New Young Pony Club: "Chaos"

Nu-rave might have imploded, but New Young Pony Club are still around, tinkering with their easy dance-rock formula. They've got a new album coming out in May, and a new single, "Chaos," streaming over at Stereogum right now. "Chaos" is a decent encapsulation of why New Young Pony Club are better than say, Klaxons, mainly in their prenatural ability to lay thick grooves under billowy synths. Plus, contrary to the rest of the genre, Pony Club's singer, Tahita Bulmer, has a decent set of pipes, begging here for the answer to the things we'll never know. Most importantly, it's a good welcome back single.

New Young Pony Club's The Optimist is due out on May 4 via Pias America.
