N.E.R.D.: "Party People" f. T.I.
With their latest album, Nothing, hitting stores next Tuesday, N.E.R.D. continues their promotional push with what's likely the final leak. And "Party People" isn't that bad of a choice at all. For one, it's not so heavily steeped in rock as previous offerings from the Pharrell-fronted band. The sound is very much more funk-driven, recalling a blend of the sounds of the '70s and '80s. I kind of hear a Quincy Jones influence here, too. The track also boasts a feature from the recently re-incarcerated T.I., whose appearance here is quick but welcome. From what I'm hearing, the rest of the record is actually pretty damn solid, too, so here's hoping.
