"Deadbeat Summer" is drowsy lo-fi pop done very right. Frustratingly pictureless mystery duo Neon Indian are preparing to release an EP titled Psychic Chasms, and this wasted piece of washed out groove is likely to appear on it. In two or three months, when you're sitting around trying to figure out why you're sitting around when it's so gosh darn beautiful outside, put this on and the reason will suddenly become clear. Yeah, good ear for catching that, but I wouldn't call it a rip off; it's just obvious that Alan Palomo is a fan of the Pineapples track. I am a huge italo disco fan and was upset to find out that Neon Indian ripped off of one of the genres most beloved song. I asked them about it on their myspace page but they erased my comments and blocked me. Obviously they are trying to pull a fast one. I wouldn't care if they credited the song or wrote back to me but they didn't have the decency to respond so I am going around spreading this information on blogs.
